The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga was introduced to the West many decades ago, but it is only during the past 15 years that it has exploded in popularity. This ancient Vedic practice of mind, body and spirit provides benefits on many levels for those who do it regularly. On a physical level it brings us balance and strength. Your body grows stronger, more toned, and more flexible as you move from one asana (pose) to another. Yoga also balances your metabolism, which helps to regulate weight.
As you can see, yoga is a great way to achieve fitness, but it is not just about working out. There are deep breathing and meditation practices in Yoga that help to relieve stress and clear the mind. At the end of most yoga classes there is a time for silent meditation and stillness... a rare gift in our busy world. There are many different types of yoga to practice, so it’s important to find out which type is right for you. At the Ibiza Spirit Festival on April 29 at Atzaró, there will be seven yoga classes of all different types for you to try.
