ENERGY SAVING LIGHT BULBS;
HOW TO SAVE MONEY...
About 90 percent of the electricity used by incandescent bulbs is lost as heat. These bulbs typically burn for 750 to 1,000 hours—or about three hours a day for a year.
A 15-watt compact fluorescent bulb yields the same amount of light as a 60-watt incandescent bulb. Compact flourescent bulbs last about 10.000 hours -- 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs!
SAVING WATER IN THE TOILET...
The flushing toilet is responsible for about one third of all water used by the average household. One easy solution to reducing this is to install a Toilet Flush Water Saver. This can either be built into your toilet cistern, or added to the system very simply. It can save up to 25% of your yearly consumption and that’s around 40€ you don’t need to spend on water.
BOTTLED WATER...
We all need to reduce the amount of plastic we buy. So if you must buy bottled drinking water, save empty bottles and refill them rather than recycling and buying new bottles each week.
There are now several locations on the island with vending machines where you can fill-up with 25-50 litres of good drinking water for only 1€.
